Strategic Conservation Solutions, LLC (SCS) offers Fall, Winter/Spring, and Summer paid internships in its Washington, DC, office. Candidates should have good communications (both written and oral) and research skills and a desire to learn more about policy and regulatory issues in the federal arena. SCS offers its internship program throughout the year for college sophomores, juniors or seniors interested in gaining real-world experience in the field.
SCS is a small consulting business in the area of conservation and the environment related to agriculture. It is not a requirement to have agriculture direct experience or education; however, an interest in natural resource issues would be considered an asset. The position supports the work conducted on behalf of clients of the firm, which include trade associations, nonprofits, think-tanks and other for-profit businesses looking to strategically expand their sustainability and conservation platform. Interns work on a variety of projects, primarily involving research, limited analysis, and some writing. The intern may be called on to attend meetings on behalf of SCS, participate in webinars, monitor Congressional hearings, and other meetings as needed, as well as participate in relevant educational opportunities as appropriate.
Interns are selected for a semester experience, and while it is a paid internship, interns are responsible for all living costs during the internship. Starting and ending dates are negotiable, usually dependent on school schedules. This is a full-time internship with daily office hours, Monday through Friday; however, SCS is willing to work with all university programs which may involve class or other program commitments during the workday schedule. The owners of SCS both participated in intern programs as college students and are committed to making the internship opportunity a unique and meaningful experience.
Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and resume to:
